The Quiet Weight of Legacy šļø
Thereās a particular stillness that settles in when a chapter begins to close. Over the past few weeks, Iāve watched familiar faces drift into new seasons of lifeāsome stepping into different routines, some exploring new corners of the community, some simply following the natural pull of change as spring slowly seeps in. And while I understand this rhythm, while I know itās normal for people to move on when life shifts, Iād be lying if I said it didnāt hurt.
There are moments when the thinning of the room feels personal, even though I know it isnāt. Moments when my old wounds whisper that Iāve been discarded or forgotten. But thatās my own history speaking, not the truth of whatās happening here. The truth is simpler, softer: people grow, seasons change, and communities evolve in ways we canāt control.
And yet, beneath the heaviness, there is this other feelingāone thatās quieter but just as real.
Itās the steady, grounded knowing that I did this.
I built The Yoga Haven from the ground up. I poured my finances, my time, my knowledge, my education/training, my heart into this place. I invested in each of youānot just as students, but as whole human beings. I wanted you to feel supported enough to grow, steady enough to take risks, and brave enough to follow whatever called you next.
I wanted this space to be a beginning, not the final destination.
So, when I see people stepping into new adventures, I feel the acheābut I also feel the unmistakable imprint of the work Iāve done. I created this community from nothing but a vision and a willingness to show up again and again. I held space until you learned how to hold it for yourselves. I taught until you trusted your own bodies. I rooted this place so deeply that it could keep growing even as people came and went.
And when the day comes when I am called to drive away from this beautiful town I have called home, life will continue to shift in the way it always does. I merely hope that when you hear the word yoga, something inside you remembers The Yoga Haven. Not just the classes or the room, but the way you felt when you walked ināthe safety, the breath, the belonging, the sense that you were becoming someone a little more whole.
My legacy is the ache and the pride of watching people step into new chapters because of what they found here, and what remains is the tender proof that this place matteredāpeople changed here, and then life called them forward.
And even though letting go breaks my heart a little, I know this truth will stay with me long after the doors close. I will be gratefulādeeply, fiercely gratefulāfor the mark this place has made, and for the way it will continue to live in the people who once gathered hereā¦. #lovealwayswins
